CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  Pre-Ballet  

Students as young as age three can begin training in ballet.  Pre-Ballet provides an introduction to ballet with beginning development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness and a specific focus on class etiquette. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary. 

The goal of Beginning Ballet is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality. Students will be introduced to elementary barre and center work.

In this class, attention is paid to the proper extension of the legs and shape of the feet, developing movement sequences, port de bras and balance. Students will see an increase in difficulty in barre and center work Students begin focus on repetition and retention.  Foot strengthening prepares them for moving to pointe classes.

  Pre-Pointe  

Beginning Pointe training becomes much more serious. Classes will focus on pointe work, pirouettes, use of the head and upper body, fluidity of port de bras as well as the intricacies of small and large jumps.

  Advanced  

  Pointe  

Advanced Pointe is for advanced dancers with instructor recommendation or audition.  This class will pay attention to fine details, use of the upper body, breath of movement and expression as well as an increasingly advanced repertory of steps. 

  Jazz  

Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

  Lyrical  

Lyrical dance combines techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. Students will explore how lyrical dance emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics to tell a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract.

  Tap  

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

  Tiny Tot  
Tap & Jazz  

Tiny Tot Tap & Jazz class is designed to develop rhythm, style and body awareness. Class assists the young dancer in identifying basic forms of movement through imaginative games, songs, music and rhythmical patterns while fostering independence. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of tap and jazz dance.

Hip Hop
